Afgelopen zaterdag was de dag waar iedereen op had gewacht. Jamal Ben Saddik stond nogmaals tegenover Rico Verhoeven. Jamal heeft het super gedaan en laten zien dat hij een geweldige vechter is!
De laatste keer dat ze vochten was in 2011, waar Jamal Ben Saddik won van de huidige wereldkampioen Rico Verhoeven.
Jamal "The Goliath" Ben Saddik (32 wins, 5 losses and 26 KO) daagde Rico "The King of Kickboxing" Verhoeven (52 wins, 10 losses and 15 KO) uit bij GLORY 39 in Brussel in Maart 2017.
Afgelopen zaterdag stonden ze nogmaals tegenover elkaar. Het was een titelgevecht en bestond uit 5 rondes van 3 minuten.
De eerste ronde was overduidelijk voor Jamal. Jamal heeft Rico een paar goede stoten gegeven en bijna knock out geslagen. Jamal was erg gefocused en kwam door Rico's verdediging heen. De jury gaf de eerste ronde dan ook aan Jamal. Jamal was activer dan Rico in de eerste twee rondes.
Rico had wat te doorstaan, maar liet uiteindelijk zien dat hij de ware kampioen is. Jamal zat erg dicht bij een win, maar Rico draaide het gevecht om in de laatste rondes en sloeg Jamal in de laatste ronde knock out.
Ondanks dat we verloren hebben, zijn we heel trots! We zullen ooit kampioen zijn!

Jamal really showed that he is a force to reckoned with and showed his power , Rico had to go trough deep waters .... Tremendous hearth showed by both fighters and Rico showed he is a true champ , we were very close and winning but he turned it around in the later rounds !! I think everybody enjoyed the fight and we will be ready for the next one again ! We keep working hard and come out victorious next time ! Big respect to Rico by coming back after taking such heavy punishment he really showed that he has a big heart ! This was a fight that the crowd wanted and needed a real war by 2 athletes , I don't want to hear race things this was a fight between two training animals who gave all Saturday !!! It could go either way and for us it was 2-2 in round 5 we enjoyed it and go back in training hard !! We learned a lot from this battle !!
Jamal, you really put everybody his mouth open Saturday or closed a lot of other ones .... you showed that you are one of the best and were the stronger and improved so much your body, your skills, trough all the hard work and dedication, big respect and that our workouts with the team worked!! First time 5 rounds and against a condition Guy, You showed What You are capable of, we Will be champion that is 1 thing that is sure ! We have a big road to come and will get there !! 1-1 now , 2018 we want fight #3
