Eindhoven, 28 June – Top boxer Alicia Holzken from St. Oedenrode, the Netherlands, will fight her last amateur boxing match for the Netherlands the coming weekend (Sparkassen Cup in Bensheim) The young talented Alicia has  taken this decision in the recent months after it became clear that the agenda and facilities at Olympic level failed to maintain her motivation for the next four years.

Topboxing talent Alicia Holzken makes the switch to professional kickboxing

Alicia says: "I like boxing and had great fun over the past years and the Olympic dream with Rio on the horizon. Unfortunately I have narrowly lost on the way to Rio in the qualifiers of the final silver medalist in Rio. In my weight class in Netherlands there are very little sparring partners, making it very difficult to me to improve within the Netherlands. Without A status, professional program and competitions I can keep motivated very difficult untill Tokyo. That is why I am going to focus on a professional career in Kickboxing but I am also still available for beautiful opportunities in professional boxing. Together with my team of trainers we go rock hard to get started and we will take every chance on a fight very seriously ".

Alicia starts training next week under the guidance of Nick Hemmers at Hemmers Gym in Breda and her father Paul Holzken at Golden Gloves in Eindhoven.
