The program is hosted by Hélene Hendriks and Remy Bonjasky who look behind the scenes of Glory each week. This week Cor Hemmers was a guest at the show.
They discussed various fighters, but also Ramon Dekkers. They visited Hemmers Gym for an interview with Cor Hemmers, Nick Hemmers and Carlo Dekkers.
Cor talks about how Ramon came to fight at his gym at the age of 15 years old in 1984. He was very explosive and had a massive punching power. Ramon's mother always came to the gym and eventually married Cor Hemmers, who then became Ramon and Carlo's stepfather, they also had a son together, Nick Hemmers. Every day Ramon and Cor would talk about kickboxing.
Ramon Dekkers was a real talent and his younger brothers Nick and Carlo couldn't spar with him, because he was to good. Ramon fought a lot of matches in Holland and won every fight with a knockout. His first international fight was in France. After that the had the first satellite event in 1990 from Amsterdam, which was also showed in Thailand. Thailand was still looking for an opponent for their champion and challenged Ramon Dekkers to fight him. He knocked their champion out in the first round. After his second fight in Thailand he won the Ramon Dekkers Trophy, that they also use in Glory as a trophy for upcoming fighters.
Ramon Dekkers was and still is a legend! He was an 8 time worldchampion of kickboxing and helped kickboxing in to this world!
